Hope In The Face Of Unspeakable Evil

An age that resists categories like “sin” and “evil” was forced to confront the brutal and undeniable fact of their existence this dark day.

There will be much political and cultural hay made of this tragedy in the days to come, and most of it will miss the point entirely. Laws and regulations won’t solve these problems, nor will guns or constitutions. The real answer to such horrors has already been given:

He will swallow up death forever;
and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,
and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,
for the Lord has spoken.
It will be said on that day,
“Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us.
This is the Lord; we have waited for him;
let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” (Isaiah 25:7-9)

We wait for him. The Lord has spoken; he will surely do it.
