Welcome to Cutting It Straight! Here’s a little about me.
I was born in British Columbia and grew up in Calgary in a large family. I joined the Canadian Army at 17 as an artillery officer candidate and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. My hopes of a military career were ended in 2003, when I suffered a training injury which, thankfully, God used to awaken me out of a backslidden lifestyle and back to a living faith in Christ.
After leaving the Army in 2005, I took a Master of Divinity from Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary in Cochrane, Alberta. While in seminary I served as Teaching Pastor at a Southern Baptist church plant in north Calgary. I currently serve as an Elder and Executive Pastor at Calvary Grace Church of Calgary, Alberta, and “on the side” I work both as a hotel chaplain in Banff and as a “tentmaking” front desk person in the hotel industry. My wife Erin and I live in Cochrane, Alberta, with our six children, trying to keep it all straight!
